I spent a week in July 2026 driving along the length of Minnesota State Highway 1.
It runs 346 miles from Lake Superior to the North Dakota border and is the longest state highway in Minnesota.
It touches forests and farmland, rivers and lakes, large and small towns — a little bit of everything Minnesota has to offer.
Parts of it I knew well. Other areas were completely new to me. I decided it was time to see the whole thing and there was plenty to see.
